Trial: Red Rain

ABOUT THE STORY

This is a concept for a comic about a society, that handles crime a different way. If you happen to be the chosen one of the year, you will be sent out to the most dangerous island in the world.

In a time where crime rates climb to new extremes at rapid speed, prisons are overflowing. As a result, a distant island full of emptineses that reeks of death was declared to become a penalty for the worst of society. Those who don´t die after one year get the chance to be freed of their sins and are integrated back into society. 

One day, Mina gets the worst sentence she could imagine: She and her sister are to serve the narcisstic and barbaric dictator of their land and be enslaved for the rest of their lives. Not ready to put her sister´s life at such risk, Mina begs the judges for a sudden proposal that leaves them speechless: She wants to be sent to the Island for one year, in exhange for her and her sisters freedom. Never before has anyone volunteered for this deadly destiny.

It seems only luck will help Mina survive on this journey. But first, she will have to go through hell...

THE ISLAND

The island consists of a vast emptiness that stretches far and wide in sand, oppressive and yet free. In addition to the survival skills that you should bring, it seems as if you are not quite so alone in the endless expanse.

Does the island hide a secret? And how much does the government really know?

RED RAIN

Red rain, also called blood rain, is a real phenomenon that occurs in areas around deserts. The rain falling down gets mixed up with the sahara dust that´s hanging in the air, which makes it look red/ orange.

In the story, this phenomenon will occur at a time where Mina and K are on the verge of losing their last bit of hope for survíng. On their way through the desert the two of them find bones after bones, along with human skulls. The sudden rain puring down somehow gives her new optimism, but the red color´s got something dreadful to it. It´s like the death striking everything on this island sooner or later, just like the rain gets to the ground and covers every spot, drop by drop. Shortly after, the two women meet Raul for the first time. It will also mark the end of  the first chapter.
